High school students visiting Moi University studio |
Most secondary schools visit Moi University annually. They
don’t miss visiting areas such as the library. Mu .Fm is located in the school
of information sciences and at times school of human resource development. They
have really made a tradition that they must visit the university at a certain
period of the year, “We usually bring our form ones to this university, usually
for Geography studies at the Moi university weather stations,” Mr. Chelal a
geography teacher at Tulon Secondary school said.
To be frank, most people may wonder how Moi University could
turn as a tourist site. There are a lot you can learn. The library houses
various machines for learning, including those used in Physics practical, a
traditional printing machine, letter press technology, binding sections, the
dark room, archival repository and others. It acts as an historical site and
students learn a lot. In the school of information sciences, they are able to
learn a bit of mass communication, they are taught how Moi university radio
operates.
Other sites include the school of engineering where they are
taught how various topics. They are shown different kinds of machines that
engineers learn to use. At the weather station, they are taught how various
weather instruments operate. They see it function practically unlike when they
are taught in class. This helps them understand every instrument and how it
operates. This sticks in their minds forever.
School of human resource development has a well designed
cafeteria that provides a ample reception to a reasonable number of students.
It is a well designed cafeteria. “I have taught a lot from my visit to this
place I won’t miss if we are to come back again,” Linda a student from Gilgil
girls told us in our interview with them. High school students get encouraged
whenever they visit the place. They are able to choose their careers as early
as in form one. They feel great whenever they walk along the University ways.
