Forgotten giant amidst us

FORGOTTEN GIANT AMIDST US
It is now a week after the Valentine’s Day and Moi university V.C.T health center is flooded with clients wanting to clear their heads of their suspicions.
On my quest to find out how students use the facility at the health care center, I had to visit the place. On my arrival to the V.C.T, the queue that greeted my eyes answered all my questions. I had gone to the place at 3pm thinking there were few clients and that I would be attended to quickly but I was wrong.
It dawn on me now that I didn’t know the rule of the place. Everyone in the queue had a love partner and went inside the room in pair so I was the odd one out. They were encouraging themselves not to fear whatever the results they were going to get. It had never occurred to my mind that there were beings there out risking their lives thus stressed of contracting HIV/AIDS in the process.
Most clients in the queue had a history of drinking alcohol and cigarette smoking. I could hear them mentioning while waiting. I felt sympathy for them since they didn’t care on the side effects of using such drugs. They believed that such drugs are a source of happiness and could help them strengthen their relationship. They were free enough to talk romance to each. A guy started, “you are the most romantic woman I ever met,” at a time singing, “we ni wangu tu,” you could think they were already drunk at that hour of the day.
Some couples queued until they were tired and decided to leave, it’s like the fear of the results had overwhelmed them and couldn’t wait anymore. Although they were encouraging themselves all the time, they had no choice but to leave.
It is not long since the last list of infected students in campus was produced by a student who happened to be the source and had made sure that she had infected over hundred students in campus.  Many had to rush to the notice board to see whether their names were among the list. This should be a lesson to all students. It is better to get a baby for a baby is not a virus unlike the virus itself.
