WHAT DISAPPOINTS MOST IN CAMPUS

The unnecessary noise heard in campus during night hours are scary. They make the neighbourhood believe that a disaster has occured. Last night at arround 2pm was the worse moments ever. Screams and shouts were all over between hostel H and J. Innocent students had to jump out of their beds.

Some got injured in the process of trying to salvage their lives. They thought the worse had happened. The first thing to ring in ones mind is a fire outbreak, robbery or another strike. "Where is my shoe? My wallet? I can't find my phone." This was what could be heard from the neighboring rooms only to realize later that the screams were shouts of joy. What a disappointment?

Traditionally, sounds made such as woo oi!!! are meant to alert people of an impending disaster or bad omen. It was never allowed for a person to make such sounds in vain. This was a believe that if such sounds are made in vain then it would be difficult to get assistance when a serious attack or disaster occurs. Nowadays, people have lost this idea and use woo oi!! to express joy instead of hurrah!or ha lillili!! a team had won a match.

Students in Moi University should avoid unnecessary noise as it distracts peace other people have and make them scared. At times it wakes one from sleep, an action that may cause serious injuries to the victim or lead to death due to shock. When a serious disaster occurs assistance may not be offered.

FUNGAL INFECTION AMONG THE CAMPUS DWELLERS

“Your health is your wealth,” Ms Tietie MUSO health director at Moi University said during a seminar held today at the student center conference hall. She had invited doctor Oganda from the school of health sciences to educate the students on fungal, yeast and bacterial infections in human sexuality.

Dr. Oganda said that burning sensation in the inner reproductive organs is as a result of fungal or yeast infections. Major transmission mode is unprotected sexual intercourse. Other forms could be unhygienic washrooms which may spread infections from a carrier who after using the facility goes without disinfecting the place.

Considering the state of ablutions in Moi University infections are at a high rate since the facilities used for flashing waste products are worn out. Waste substances accumulate on the sit up bowels as several users go without flashing the waste.

The most notorious hostel which such challenges is hostel J. the odor around the hostel’s surrounding portrays the state of hygiene in the place. Cleaners have a problem with this situation, at times they are forced to write notices on the doors hoping that the situation will improve.

Personal hygiene also need to be considered. Bathing with plenty water will help reduce the rate of infection. Dr. Oganda advised the students to report any cases of unhygienic conditions within campus so that the best action is taken immediately for better health sanitation.
