RENT TO INCREASE ON ADOPTION OF THE NEW SYSTEM

Rental cost is expected to increase at the stage residential if the landlords decide to adopt the new rules they made last Friday. As a result of rising insecurity in the area, all landlords met to discuss the way forward so as to safeguard the lives of their tenants.

Talai center is a renowned place where students secure their residence whenever they miss space within the campus residential. Normally, rent charges ranges between 2500 up to a maximum of 5000 per room. Students are forced to raise these amounts despite the challenges they face during their stay in these rooms. Water is a problem as there is no tapped water so fetching water from the boreholes is a strenuous exercise to students especially during dry season as water table is lower. During rainy seasons students have to walk on muddy pathways.

The new system is meant to tighten security by ensuring that all tenants are registered and guards employed to man every estate. Reporting any suspect believed to be a drug smuggler to police for arrest. It is believed that this will reduce theft, robbery and murder cases. For this to be implemented funds are needed. The cost will be passed on to the tenants. The new rent rates are yet to be decided.

  1. Really the executive committee in stage residential should try another alternative instead of burdening the students, their is no way the students are going to carry their cross, let them carry their own cross
